I should probably mention this now.  Last week in a drawing class we started drawing models.  Who were nude.  Of course.  One on Monday, the same guy on Wednesday, a different guy last Monday.  Monday was also the last model-drawing day, unfortunately.  There was supposed to be one today, a girl, but she canceled at the last minute and we're not making the day up.

...To really be honest, this was the first time I'd seen a naked man.  Internet, let me tell you, guys look weird without their clothes.  Also, the first one, despite being bigger and beefier, had radically different genitalia than the second one, a variation that I had not known existed.  ...Of course I looked.  I had to.  I was drawing the guys, and you can't do that without looking at them.

It's interesting, though, how soon after you start drawing them that you basically forget about the naked man and just see lines and structure to be drawn.  Instant depersonalization!  Fascinating.  The models themselves seem to encourage that, since for the most part they ignore the art students and only talk to the professor.  Though the second one did also want to look at how we were drawing him, which made things awkward all over again.

Apparently it's easy to get paid for modeling like that in these classes.  And women can rack up more hours, since they're so outnumbered.  ...And I don't have a job and want money.  I almost certainly won't do this because it's a job that is standing naked in front of dozens of strangers and for all that my body issues are a lot more minor than for most women, I still have some.

Argh, Sagan's birthday passed and I missed it.  Still might as well post his Pale Blue Dot video.  I've read the book of it.  It's not bad.
