I dreamed that I was going to try to RP Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul, and I argued that this was possible because he was the viewpoint character in The Andalite Chronicles and in one main sequence book.  (The second part's not true.)  Then apparently I dreamed the book.  Something or other post-series, Elfangor knew what had happened and was apparently alive, and got sent back in time to posses his brother Ax.

He convinced the others of this and plans were made, where he was secretly a little intimidated by the thought that these were the Animorphs pre-strange powers.  Cassie apparently had the ability to "remember the world", for example, whatever that means.  And there was a scene in a gas station convenience store about holding off some thugs and Jake's parents learned what he was, but they "already knew".

It was a longer dream, but I can't remember now.

Also, I'm skimming parts of Legacy Of The Force.  I hate a good eighty percent of it, but.  Wedge Antilles and his daughter Syal.  I love them like burning.

For example, in "Betrayal", Wedge breaks out of an (admittedly low-security and cushy) jail using a videogame, a tumbler of water, and a rolling chair.  This is awesome.

And a fanfic written for ladielazarus. )

I got to 50k in time! Awesome!

Ontological Mystery, though, is not actually done. Over fifty thousand words long now, but not done. Guh. Well, I know where it's going, and if I put off editing until I've gotten the events written, maybe I actually can finish.

I did put a taste of it on Shifti.

And here's the Livejournal Cheat Sheet.

There is an evil, entrancing tower of chairs in my NaNo, with powers that I refused to explore or explain. There is also a rogue hyperterritorial triceratops. Why? Because padding.

And, I guess, because that act was slow, and so Jan the Rabbot can shoot the triceratops and make it explode, thus further establishing what kind of character she is.

My real villain has a part-part-part icular way particular way paaartiiiicuuuular waaaaaay particularwayofspeaking particular way of speaking. It makes her good for padding out the wordcount. Also, she's massively creepy. And very not my original character, but it's NaNo. I can write demifanfic for it if I want.

Oh, and someone linked to this. Apparently someone put Ghostbusters on Youtube. I've never seen it, but I think I should. When I get the chance, hopefully it will still be here.

Ah, hey, scans_daily is working on Dreamwidth now. Unfortunately I'm doing NaNoWriMo, so I don't have time now to post from The Thrawn Trilogy. But look at my progress!

Doing all right for NaNoWriMo, at least so far.  The scenario has survival horror elements, but the characters aren't exactly fitting for survival horror, since they're pretty tough.  It's been approximately three days since everything went to hell in an underground research facility where researchers were free to do pretty much whatever they wanted.

So!  Survivors!  Obviously there are my main four, who break out of eggs in a darkened room which was sealed against the outside.  There is a cyborg who has been running and gunning.  There are former humans transformed into fish people in a reinforced aquarium thing.  There will be four others who broke out of eggs in a different room and didn't have the strength to leave like my four.  And there's a holocron.  Hmm.  There may be a few more.

So!  Menaces!  I have bloodthirsty wolf-crocodile-horse-bear things that walk on their knuckles to keep their claws sharp.  I have former humans transformed into mindless screaming spindly-fingered things.  I have something gelatinous.  All of those are hungry.  There will also be robots controlled by an evil AI.  Is that enough?  Should there also be a group of armed, hostile survivors?  What other nasties might have been cooked up by mad science?  I know I'll have to at least mention horrible diseases.

I want there to be evil ratlike things of some kind.  Genetic combinations?  Rats exposed to something that mutated them?  Cyborg rats?

So much to try, so little time.

Here's a couple bits of spur-of-the-moment commentfic I wrote days or weeks ago which I'll copypaste here.  First involving Grodin Tierce.

Is it possible to get a writer's high?  Possibly in conjunction with an artist's high?

Because damn if this doesn't feel good.

Anj Kincaid.  I like him.  He is fun to torment, and not hard to write.  ...And yes, his face is vaguely based on mine.  I don't know why I didn't Google for facial expressions.  Eh, done is done.

I swear I dropped into Flow when I was writing.  I love flow.  It's this rush, and rather than browsing other tabs and being blocked I'm typing furiously.  Being me, I'm still going back and editing as I do it, but I'm getting paragraphs done and things are progressing, one to two to three.  Is that what it's like to be manic?  I wanted to stop, but I felt like I had to reach a certain point first, so I kept going.  This happens sometimes when I'm writing - I want to get a little bit further and stop, but then I see another point I have to reach.

When I write papers, the ones that everyone loves are the ones I enjoy doing.  And apparently people do like my papers.  When I'm enjoying a paper I get sardonic, I don't lose my threads, and apparently I am very good at rephrasing.  Writing stories is a little like that.  Just different in every way.

I scanned one of the leftovers from the sheet of the picture that's on my newest passport.  My hair has grown out a bit and at home I tend to wear glasses, but that's what I look like.

No one ever told me how fun it is to mess with the characters you're writing.  It's weird.  I hate the vast majority of comedy, since I don't generally see the humor in property damage, injuries, and the whole "I thought things were going well, and now everything is ruined!" schtick.  In fact, those things tend to make me cringe instead of laughing.  But here I am writing "Walker, Imperial Ranger", there's someone who turned into an AT-AT and is Not Liking This At All, and it is incredible fun.  It is sick and twisted fun.

Also I just finished a drawing of Anj Kincaid, who started the story as a woman and then got genderswitched, checking and staring out of the paper in horror, and I grin like a maniac every time I look.

Of course, since I used myself as reference for the drawing, now he looks something like me.  But I'm androgynous enough to rock the Red Guard armor.

So Shadows of the Empire had a soundtrack of its own.  Not for the game, for the novel.  Huh.  Youtube has this soundtrack.  Unfortunately the person who uploaded it is the type to whine about not liking the prequel trilogy in the "more info" box.  SotE has nothing to do with waah I don't like these movies!  So I figured I'd just embedd them here.

Ten embedds )
Hmm.  I know Shadows of the Empire has a lot of mixed reviews, but now I really want to read it again.  I didn't think it was half bad, previous times I read it.  And I like Steve Perry's other work, on the MedStar duology and Death Star.  The guy he worked with for those three, Michael Reaves, is... well, no, not bad.  But I think they're better together.

Sad song from Charlotte's Web, the old version.

Chemical party!

And font conference!  Aaah, anthropomorphization.  I like Times New Roman, frankly.

The full version of the Spectacular Spider-Man theme song.

I joined Dragonadopters.  This will probably end poorly.  Here's my egg.

I think I put my back out trying aerobics.  Ow, damn it!  It hurts to bend.

Finished my exchange story.  Now I have to figure out what to call it.

Hey, it's that song from the end of WALL-E.  I like that song.

The Beatles song "I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends"

Good gods.  This video of "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger."  Whoah!  It's like high-speed very advanced dancing, but with hands.  Wow. Very nice!  Very nice!  (Just wait until the words speed up!)  Very, very cool!

So what I'm saying is, I like it.  Hmm.  Maybe a bit much, I think I'm vaguely turned on.  ...Do I really need a hand fetish?

Title: The Pantheon Fic.  I'll have to come up with something else if I write in this 'verse again.
Rating: Eh...  G, PG.  Be warned, there are links to TVTropes, dread eater of time.  Many links.  I went a little crazy, apparently.
Disclaimer: ... If I listed the real owners of all these characters, this would be a huge block of text.
Feedback: Please do.  I'm trying to practice third person without italics abuse, and I love con. crit.
Notes:
The Pantheon is a TVTropes thing started when tropers started wondering "What would things be like if the world were run entirely on tropes? Who would be the Gods and Goddesses?"

As a troper myself, I was intrigued.  Someone had put Captain America into the Houses of Defense, Justice, and Law, and they'd made him the God of Justice.  But they hadn't fleshed the entry out at all.  I had to fiddle with it more than a little.  Iron Man was also in the House of Technology, similarly non fleshed out, so I fixed that.  ... Good grief, did I fix that.  He's also in the House of Craft now.  Then I had to keep padding things, working in that growing tradition of interconnecting the various people we've stolen to be in the Tropes Pantheon.  I have to say that it's been a lot of fun.  ...So I wrote a fic explaining something that I'd referenced several times.  It turned out to have a slashy flavor if you squint, so I might as well post it to [community profile] cap_ironman .  It makes no attempt to fit into anyone's canon and is sort of multicrossovery, but the focus is mostly on Steve and Tony.  This first part is more to set the scene and has only a little to do with Tony.  Don't worry, that will change.

I'll stick a few more links when it feels like I need them, but I'm going to ease up now.

Here, listen to the Large Hadron Rap.

I drew a dragon whom I've written about before, here and here.  Then I scanned him.  Good gods, that scanned huge.  This is the "small" version.  In the story his jaws can open to about two feet or so...  Thinking about drawing more hair to connect his mane with his muttonchops.  I think I did pretty well, altogether.

Crowning Music Of Awesome.  Cool.

What did I find today but a LJ community called (okay, still can't hotlink normally, maybe if I copy-paste) [profile] brains_in_a_jar, which is about taking relationships in various fandoms and "giving one partner phenomenal cosmic powers and an itty bitty living space. Those phenomenal cosmic powers are a neural hookup to fly a spaceship and the inability to disengage it."

"Being stuck in a spaceship and feeling things as a spaceship does sounds like a pretty good deal, but it would require one to have a partner who could do things like interact face-to-face with passengers. That's where the danger and romance comes in, because if one person is confined forever to a ship and the other is not, and then they fall in love, great drama will indubitably ensue.  But romance and faster-than-light travel aren't the only things here. What makes a person, beyond the physical? How do we relate with each other? When is different too different, and when isn't it? "

Just like McCaffrey's Ship Who Sang 'verse!  I loved the concept in those books, but I just didn't like the writer much.  Anyway, there is a story here where Wolverine is a plane.  In the nineteen fifties.  And befriends a child Scott Summers.  Unfortunately, all the others are romance and fandoms that I'm not familiar with.  Except for the Tony/Steve one that linked me to this community.  And a couple Xmen ones that I didn't find interesting.

I friended it just on a matter of principle.  Hells, if "Walker Imperial Ranger" ever gets finished... well, no, I probably wouldn't make a post there, it's been defunct for a year and I haven't so much as introduced myself.  Sadly, there aren't any f-locked posts.  Ooooh...

Star Wars
[personal profile] carmarthen - Star Wars, with Darth Vader as the ship and either Luke Skywalker or Leia Organa as the pilot

Damn it, it wasn't linked to in the comm, so I concluded it never got written.  A furious search through that particular journal ensued.  I hate lack of tag clouds... fortunately, there is the calender thing for 2007.  Hmm.  She(I'm assuming female) has a list that I'll LJ-cut.

Also, ah, she writes and links to Tamora Pierce fanfiction, and likes Kel.  Ahhh.  That's the pleased sigh, not the scream.  And used to like Lackey a lot more than she does now!  And likes dinosaurs!  "Every fandom needs more dinosaurs".  Awesome.

Hmm.  To stalk, or not to stalk?  Hells, I might just post.  My other stalkedjournals haven't even warranted a mention in my posts.

So sad that apparently the brainship fic never got completed.  *sigh*  That's life.

People die if they are killed...   From the TVTropes page "Captain Obvious".  I find this so hilarious.  Maybe it's because of how serious he looks.

There's an interesting meme going around right now.

You are in a mall when the zombies attack.  You have:

1 weapon
1 song blasting on the stereo
and 1 famous person, real or fictional, fighting besides you.

Hnn.  Well, I'll give it a go.

On another note, "Bam!  Kapow!" is an entertaining way to spend time, with lots of comic movie news.  I've seen this animated... thing.... before, I don't know what it was made for but, although it's kind of cheesy, it's also very cool.  And isn't that what the goal was?  Whatever they're trying to sell me, I want it.

Soooo, news about the Hulk movie.  The video here has a line alluding to a Captain America cameo(!  Who... who played...  wha?  HOW HAS THE INTERNET NOT HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?), and here they say it was cut, and will be on the DVD.  Which I must buy when it comes out.  Iron Man had a split-second Easter egg with that shield.  I must buy that, too.

I'm hoping my friend will take me to see the movie this weekend.  We texted a little on Thursday about it.  She said she'd call me if she made plans.  If what I've heard was true, there are a metric ton of allusions and little nods in the movie.  That's what I like.

On another another note: Mass Effect.

IT IS EATING MY LIFE.

No sentient species is capitalized.  We have asari, salarians, turians, volus, humans, krogan, geth, hanar, others which I can't think of - not capitalized, which is kind of weird to a Star Wars junkie, but makes some sense.  I like humanity's position in the galaxy.  A new race in the government, was at war with another race before the Council intervened.  It's a fascinating game.

OM.  NOM.  NOM.  LIFE EATEN.
