Oct. 3rd, 2009 02:52 pmSince I might as well make a post on current events... the Polansky thing. Urgh. The fact that there is any debate on this at all sickens me.
He drugged and raped a thirteen-year-old girl. He confessed to it, and then he fled the country and lived comfortably elsewhere to avoid a paltry forty-day jail time.
How is this even an issue? Doesn't matter who he is, how wonderful a director he might be, how tragic his past life is, how long ago this was, even that the victim is sick and tired of being confronted with this again and again and wants it to stop. All of that might excuse an offhand offensive comment, but the drugging and oral, vaginal, and anal rape of a frightened thirteen-year-old? No.
My thoughts on the matter can't be rendered as text. I hope he gets life imprisonment.
Well, there's a smaller list of famous people who aren't lining up to defend a child rapist here, and that's something.
