This is a rant. It is a rant that will make me seem much older and more crotchety than I physically am. I do not care. I am angry.
I hate, hate, hate loud music. Doesn't matter what kind. Turning the volume up to eleven turns anything, from the stupidest rap to the sweetest instrumental(and I am fully aware that intelligent rap and idiotic instrumentals do exist), into mindless garbage.
In the bathroom for my dorm there is a CD player thing. People play music on it when they shower. That's all very well. I don't like most of the music that people listen to, but that's just me and my preferences.
However!
If I can hear every individual word of your damned so-called music from my room, four doors away, with my door closed, with my hands over my ears, IT IS TOO LOUD.
If I open the door to the bathroom and experience physical pain, IT IS TOO LOUD.
If I cannot enter the bathroom on this floor and am forced to use the one in the floor above and it still hurts my ears, IT IS TOO LOUD.
It is not my business if you've already rendered yourself semideaf from listening to your tripe at volumes that rival a jet engine. That makes you stupid, but it is not my business.
The moment that I cannot concentrate on what I am doing due to the noise, it becomes my business. Okay?
If you come to me and whine that I shut off your music while you were in the shower, I DO NOT CARE. Deafen yourself. I plan on preserving my hearing for as long as possible, thank you very much.
For that matter, if it is midnight or after and you are playing your music when I start pounding on the wall, it does NOT mean that I like it and want you to pump the volume up. It means that I AM TRYING TO SLEEP. You want to stay up until four a.m.? That's your business. Keep it that way. DO NOT KEEP EVERYONE ELSE ON THE FLOOR UP TOO.
