It's true that this is entirely coincidental and there is no hint of romance between Fett and Vader. This is as it should be.

.... Also, in a novella co-authored by Stackpole and Zahn called "Side Trip", Thrawn tells Vader "As you wish". At the time he(Thrawn, not Vader) is wearing Mandalorian armor, missing only the helmet and gauntlets. In Stackpole's X-Wing series, Kirtan Loor tells this to Ysanne Isard. Later on, Gavin Darklighter says it to Asyr Sei'lar. Only in that last example is it traded between lovers. I'm sure there are other instances that I know nothing about.
I'm still amused.
